Product Manager (Product Marketing)


Summary

Support product life cycle management as directed by Business Manager or as assigned.  Responsibility includes but not limited to, the management of the Product Line including product planning, product definition, forecasting, product margin, promotion and product life cycle management. In addition, be responsible for the coordination with development engineering and manufacturing on the activities with strategic business partners with assigned products.

 

Responsibilities

 

Functional Expertise

·         Managing the product line including product margins, revenue and executing/planning.  Determine product pricing and recommend pricing policies based on established gross margin objectives and preparation of plans for margin improvement where necessary. 

·         Plan/Co-ordinate the preparation of Customer Requirement and Product Requirement as appropriate. Define the architectural strategy and content of the product line, including performance objectives and functional specifications with cost, price and reliability objectives.

·        Responsible for coordination with Sales Division, Commercial Marketing, Training / Support Center and other groups as appropriate to implement the plans. Product promotion and product introduction including sales training. Also responsible for literature plan, and product training plan to achieve Business Plan objectives for assigned products.

·         Attend/Support technical symposiums, trade shows and exhibits on industrial control systems to maintain knowledge on available and competitive technology and for presenting papers and seminars as appropriate to promote products.

·         Prepare competitive analysis and formulation of competitive counter strategies for all new products and existing products.

 

Leadership

·         Provide leadership in decision-making and problem-solving to ensure successful product line business performance.

·         Product life cycle management including initiation of product improvements, enhancements, approval of change notices and product obsolescence consistent with Business Plans.

·         Responsible for providing a 1-5 year market focus of strategically critical product line(s).

·        Conducts tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations (state/federal laws, ISO9001, ISO14000, etc.) as well as company policies and procedures.

 

Interpersonal

·        Coordinate with strategic business partners and standards organizations in order to achieve strategic objectives.

·        Defines and communicates market and customer requirements through interaction with Project Teams, Business Teams, and other departments to maximize market success.

 

Business

·        Develop short and long range business plans for product line consistent with market needs and corporate strategic plans.

·         Determine the total market and available market for the product line; product demand forecast based on the market forecast and for meeting share objective and to justify product viability.

·         Plan /co-ordinate in the development of product promotional items including trade shows, product literature, training, and distribution plans to achieve Business Plan objectives for assigned products

·         Ensures thorough familiarity with policies and procedures relating to standards of business conduct, and trains and motivates subordinates in the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.

 

Requirements

·         Bachelor degree in Business or Technical field, or equivalent.

·         Formal training in pricing is desirable.

·        Five plus years of industry and product line management experience. Regional Sales and Marketing experience is essential. 

·        Good knowledge of the Automation / Process related industry knowledge, control system is essential

·         Possesses Strong analytical skills

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office products, and an ability to work within a team environment to achieve position objectives

·         Possesses good interpersonal and communication skills to work in an international, cross-cultural work environment. Able to communicate both internally and externally with a multi-cultural audience; multi-level communication skills is required

·         Self-starter and independent individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Cross-cultural sensitivity is essential. Leadership influence and forecasting required.

 

Travel Expectation

·         Estimated travelling is 20-25%
